Rice South Asian Society Variety Show
We’ve had the pleasure of working with the Rice University South Asian Society for several years in a row to produce their annual Dhamaka event. This is a variety show with lots of dancing, singing, speeches, poems, videos and a fashion show. The room is always filled with audience members, around 1000 students, friends and family. It’s very important to us that every event we do is not just loud, but sounds great too. So, we provide them with our large sound system, including subwoofers and crystal clear sounding speakers, along with satellite speakers toward the back of the room.
Our large heavy duty stage is more than sturdy enough for their amazing dancing and jumping, and we include skirting and two sets of stairs. On the stage, they show videos between most of their acts, and we rent them a 7000 lumen projector and 10’x6’ projector screen with skirting for the back of the stage. Our 7000 lumen projector creates a beautiful, large image that is easy for the whole room to see.
Our audio video technician runs the sound and projector for them, and helps distribute microphones. In addition to the stage, audio and video, we also provide lighting for the stage. Our stationary spotlights light up the whole stage from the back of the room. In between acts, our lighting technician fades out the stationary spotlights and focuses in on the hosts that introduce the acts with our manned follow spotlight.
Every year students from other groups come up and tell us how great the show looked and sounded, and reach out to us to do their shows as well. We’ve had the pleasure of working with the Hispanic Student Association and the African Student Association. We always get to see some amazing performances, and the shows always look and sound outstanding.
